Carmen Frank

Art has always been a part of Carmen’s life, in many mediums and styles. Growing up, her family promoted the arts and she found herself busy with drawing, music, ceramics, sewing, woodworking and many more artistic endeavours. Carmen has been working with acrylic on canvas for 11 years making it her main medium of focus.

Carmen hopes to bring joy to her audience with scenes that remind them of the magic of Canada. She has lived in different areas of the country, from the West Coast to the prairies to the Rocky Mountains, and is continually mesmerized of the beauty of the landscapes surrounding her. Many of her weekends are spent hiking in Kananaskis and Banff where she is inspired by Mother Nature’s natural works of art, which show in her own work.

Carmen’s work features bold colours from the natural palette of western Canada.  She works this palette into playful blocks, bold brushstrokes, and big skies, that presents a lighthearted interpretation of the awe-inspiring grandeur of the Rockies and the open prairies.  Carmen’s work gives a sense of the static and timeless permanence of the mountain landscapes with the motion of the constantly changing skies that provide the dramatic backdrop that is Western Canada.
